Welcome to 2025. As I have mentioned in a previous post, it is not time to set resolutions. However, it is a great time to pause and reflect. If we don’t reflect and assess, everything moving forward is a guess. Learn from 2024 to help set up a thriving 2025.
While the calendar turning over in reality is another day, it holds an incredible opportunity to reflect, review, reset your focus, and set meaningful goals. Inspired by high-performance coach Justin Sua, I’ve condensed his list of end-of-year questions into six impactful ones to help you assess your progress, refine your mindset, and enter 2025 with purpose. Here are the 6 questions to ask yourself as we head into 2025. There is no rush on these; take your time and ensure you have clarity going into 2025.
1. What am I most proud of achieving in 2024?
Let’s start with the wins. No matter how big or small, what moments from this year stand out as milestones? Maybe you committed to consistent training, reached a personal best, or made progress in another area of your life. Celebrating these successes builds confidence and motivates you to keep pushing forward.
2. What did I learn from my challenges in 2024?
Growth rarely happens without obstacles. Think back to the most challenging moments of 2024. What did they teach you? Whether you face setbacks in fitness, nutrition, or life, challenges are an opportunity to adapt, learn, and grow stronger.
3. What habits helped me improve in 2024?
Success doesn’t happen by accident—it is the result of consistent habits. What routines, actions, or practices served you well this year? Maybe it was meal prepping, setting aside time for workouts, or prioritising sleep & recovery. Identifying what worked can help you double down on those habits in 2025.
4. What do I want to leave behind in 2024?
What habits, mindsets, or patterns are holding you back? Perhaps it’s procrastination, self-doubt, or an all-or-nothing mentality. Letting go of what no longer serves you is just as important as setting new goals.

Answering these questions is important. I encourage everyone to take the time and really reflect on 2024. Something that still stays in my mind from my university days was one of my first lectures. The lecturer said, “If you don’t know where you are going, any road will take you there.” This quote highlights the importance of a clear goal or direction. Any path or decision might seem acceptable without a defined purpose, but it could lead to aimlessness or unintended outcomes. Knowing where you want to go ensures that your choices align with your desired destination. Take time to answer the 6 questions and reflect on 2024, ensuring that the path (plan) for 2025 will be aligned with your outcomes, purpose, or goals.
