Exercise and Sleep – Part 1.
June 30, 2022
Have you ever considered that exercise is the magic pill we are all after? If not, maybe you should. Exercise is often viewed as a virtual fountain of youth, especially resistance exercise. Research shows that you can stay younger for longer if you have a good amount of lean muscle in your body. The muscle becomes a reservoir to store your anti-aging hormones. Muscle is simply this amazing. So too is sleep.
What is even better for staying young than just exercising? Sleep. Good Sleep. The two relate to each other and benefit from one another. Sleep improves with exercise, while it is this sleep that helps transform the body from your workouts. Sleep is what repairs the body, releasing large amounts of beneficial hormones, and helping you build a better base health line.
Making regular exercise a part of your life isn’t just about looking better naked, it is about many other things. One of those things is sleep. Sleep quality is radically improved on the back of a consistent exercise regimen.
By simply adding in regular exercise studies demonstrate that people suffering from insomnia have:
– improvement in the time it takes to fall to sleep.
– decrease in total time they wake during the night.
– an increase in total sleep time.
– an increase in sleep quality.
All of these benefits were significant. Improvements from not a magic pill, a magic lotion, or any other practices. But from exercise alone. The key though is these results come with consistent exercise. Exercise is a regular part of your day
Exercise and sleep can be amazing for you. Just like lack of exercise and poor sleep can be accelerating your aging process. The importance of sleep can never be underestimated. Check out this article on sleep deprivation, and the important correlation our sleep and health have.

One last thing…
Exercise is a healthy stressor, helping us sleep better, recover better, and have a significant improvement in all areas of our health and performance.
There is a caveat though when exercise can be not so good for our sleep. Look out for the next article where this will be addressed.
Until then, exercise well to sleep well.
