A Productive Day Begins the Night Before.
November 25, 2021
Many people have a morning routine. A routine helping them set their day up for a win. A day that is productive, one that is filled with actions that are moving you towards a big-picture outcome or goal.
This is a fantastic thing, to have a game plan for the next day, for each day.
If we could hit our game plan every day we would progress significantly, in any area we are trying to improve. It has been proven time and again that winning the morning continues throughout the day.
Win the morning = Win the Day.
A majority of success stories are built on the “win the morning” concept.
Many of us understand this and try to implement it. We last for a few days, or weeks, and then quit as it becomes too hard, the early morning get-up wears you down. It feels as though it becomes too hard to win the morning. Why though? Did you go too hard to fast? Or is it that you’re telling yourself, “I am just not a morning person”?
It is unliking to be neither of these two things.
The main reason for this happening?
There is no previous night routine. To win the morning, and to win the day, it starts the night before. There needs to be a process in place performed each night to help you get what needs to be done the next day. Things like:
– A Set Bed Time
– A unwinding period. It could be meditating, reading, listening to an audiobook, taking a bath etc.
– Finish eating a minimum of 2 hours before bedtime. (i.e. If bedtime is 9pm no eating after 7pm)
– Turn off and put down devices one hour before bed. Do not check emails or any work-related issues near bedtime.
– Journal leading up to bed. It could be a gratitude journal, dumping of info journal, a do-list for the next day, etc. Unload anything that may be on your mind before going to sleep.
– Make your room as dark as possible, and at a cool temperature to sleep.
There are many things we can do at night to help us get a good night’s sleep and prepare for the next morning. The point is, don’t go into your morning routine without a night routine also set in place. A irregular inconsistent nightly pattern will eventually catch up and hinder the morning routine you are trying to achieve.
Set the night up for daytime success. Now go win the day. You’ve got this!!
